Taransay Cottage at Bridge of Orchy - Self-Catering Accommodation

The comfortable lounge has a traditional open fire, 2 sofas and a large massage chair (to recover from those long walks). There is a CD player and a DVD player with screen, an assortment of DVDs, books and traditional board games. We have no TV - by choice. Get away from it all!

The bright dining-kitchen has a table that can seat 6 people. There is a fridge, freezer, cooker, hob, microwave , dishwasher, washing machine, bread-making machine and coffee machine. Cutlery and crockery for 6 people. The binoculars are for watching the wildlife. There are french doors to the garden.

Master Bedroom

The Master Bedroom has a stunning Scotch pine superking bed, wardrobe and  ensuite shower room with toilet. The bright bedroom has windows looking out on to the hills and french doors to the front garden.

Superking or Twin Rooms

There are 2 other double bedrooms at the rear of the property. Each is double glazed, with a wardrobe and can be configured for you as either twin beds or a massive superking double bed. The rooms are warm and comfortable with electric heating. One room is suitable for one well-behaved dog.

The Garden

-The garden has a grassed area and then a wilder bit at the bottom, this leads to a river. You can sit on the bench and watch the river and hills towards Glencoe. The ground is rough and uneven so you should be very careful if you venture into this area, especially with children or pets.

-Oh yes and there's no smoking or vaping in the gardens.

-If you're worried about midges, we have a Midge Magnet in the garden to attract them away from you and 'Skin so Soft' supply to repel them.

Other Features

-There is WiFi using a 4g signal so the data is limited.

-Mobile phone signals vary so you should check with your provider. There is a strong EE 4g signal.

-The water supply is a private one throughout Bridge of Orchy and upgraded in 2015 to European standards.

-The railway is adjacent to the property but there are only around 8 trains each day and these are slow in and out of the station. The earliest is around 8:15am and the last is at 9:30pm. Look out for the occasional steam train or vintage carriages passing by. The drivers will toot at you if you wave.

-The heating is electric with a radiator and thermostat in each room controlled remotely by a computer for optimum comfort and energy saving. You can boost the heat or change the temperature, but this will return to the programmed level at the next programmed event.
