Taransay Cottage at Bridge of Orchy is ideally placed for those wanting to tackle Scotland's Munros (mountains over 3000 ft). There are around 25 Munros in a 10 mile radius of the cottage and two right on our doorstep, Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh. You can simply leave the cottage and walk up the path between the two Munros, then choose to do either, or both.
Glencoe is just 15 minutes by car and there you will find a host of stunning mountains to tackle. These are serious hills, so make sure you are prepared, have checked the weather, and have the right gear. You can also travel a bit further to Ben More (20 minutes by car), Ben Cruachan, (30 minutes away) or Ben Lawers (45 minutes away) to name just a few of many.
There are also lots of smaller hills to tackle in the area that provide commanding views of the scenery. So why not mix in some flat walks on the West Highland Way, with Hill Walks for a great outdoor holiday?
The cottage has a boot and jacket drying area to make sure you are ready for a comfortable next day's walking.
We have experience of hill walking in the area and can suggest some walks based on your experience from challenging hikes to leisurely strolls. If you don't fancy climbing the hills the they look pretty good from the bottom too! Book a self-catering week or a short stay with B&B.
