DATA PRIVACY POLICY

 

WHO WE ARE:

 

We are A&K Freeland of Taransay Cottage. We use your data to process your bookings with us, to reply to your enquiries and to stay in touch during your stay. Your data privacy is important to us. We don’t share it with third parties. We don't do any data mining or devious manipulation of your data, we leave this to the unscrupulous large corporations online who seem to be above the law and know what you had for breakfast.

 

TYPES OF DATA WE COLLECT:

 

When you make a booking Freetobook will ask for your details. When you pay PayPal will send us notification of your payment but no credit or debit card details. We do not print out any PayPal data. These external services will have their own privacy statement. We may contact you after your stay with us for feedback or to offer you future opportunities to stay with us. Your contact details are written in our booking diary. This is kept in a locked filing cabinet when not in use. It may be viewed by our accountants or tax authorities for administrative purposes. Any emails sent to us are protected by a login and password and are not forwarded to third parties. You can ask to have all data related to you disclosed to you or deleted at any time, subject to legal restrictions.

 

USING YOUR DATA:

 

Your information will only be used in connection with your stay to:

 

Process your booking and provide confirmation details

Obtain payments for our services through PayPal or bank.

Respond to your questions by phone or e-mail.

Provide information that may be helpful during your stay.

We may request feedback about your stay. Freetobook, Trip Advisor or Owners Direct may contact you for feedback.

 

WHEN WE COLLECT DATA:

 

We may collect data from you when you:

 

Fill in forms on our website or in the Freetobook booking system.

Give information to us in an email, phone call, letter or in person.

 

THE BOOKING DATA WE COLLECT IS:

 

The name and address of the person booking.

Your email address so that we can confirm the booking.

The phone number of the person booking.

The names of all guests staying.

Additional information relating to your stay such as bed configuration, special requirements and so on.

Payment details are handled by PayPal or via your bank if Bank Transfer, we do not receive any card details.

 

COOKIES AND GOOGLE ANALYTICS:

 

Cookies are annoying little bits of data gathered by some online companies in order to provide their services. Freetobook will use cookies to link through to their website for booking purposes in order to retain dates and so on. Our website may use Session cookies to handle your website navigation, but these are not used for any other purposes. They are also anonymous. You can click on the Cookies statement at the bottom right of the Home page to see more about Cookies. You can also switch these off completely in your Browser.

 

If you have your website browser set to accept cookies then that implies that you consent to our cookie policy shown. If you do not disable cookies in your browser then you have the option to leave the website.

 

When someone visits our website we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

 

WIFI AT THE COTTAGE:

 

Our Cottage has WiFi provided by a 4g mobile signal. We do not track your website activity apart from noting the data usage on our router. We do not know if our 4g provider, Virgin Media collects any data, you should check with them.

 

WEBCAMS:

 

We may use a webcam at the Cottage for the purposes of updating the website with images of the view from the Cottage. No audio is captured just a distant view of the hills, so your privacy is assured.

If you want to view, amend or delete your personal data held with us please contact our Data Protection Officer, Andrew Freeland at our main email address.

 

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY:

 

This policy was created May 2018 and will be reviewed annually.
